implementations Meditech Implementation Gearing Up This article is written to give an update on the Meditech implementation progress. Meditech is the new hospital wide computer system that will replace virtually all of our existing computer systems. The Meditech system will provide cross department integration of patient information. Caregivers will, for the first time, be able to see all computerized information on the patient on one computer. In addition to the functional benefits of Meditech, the cost of operation is significantly lower than the old systems. Phase 1 of the implementation includes three Meditech modules: payroll and human resources, general ledger, and accounts payable. These are scheduled to be operational January 1, 2004. Over the last couple of months the Accounting, Human Resources, and Information Systems departments have been busy working on this phase of the Meditech install. The first paycheck of the new year will be printed from Meditech. Employees will notice a new format to the check. While the time clocks will not change, managers will work with a new version of Kronos software to process time clock information. Managers will be trained on this new software during the week of December 15. New accounts payable check will be printed from Meditech during the first week of 2004. The end of the month financial statements will be prepared from the Meditech system. The Information Systems department has sixteen new Dell file servers up and operational. They are now working to upgrade the oldest and slowest PCs and loading the Meditech client software. Data conversion programs have been developed to move employee and accounting information from the current AS/400 MedSeries4 databases into the new Meditech systems. Plant Operations installed new air conditioners in the computer room to handle the additional heat generated by the new Dell servers. implementations
